Today we went in for our 3rd OB appointment. We didn't get to see the baby this time, but we were able to hear the heartbeat. She told us they still are not sure if the ultrasound machines have any negative effect on the baby so they don't want to do one every time we go in.
To finally answer the question: "what's the difference between the machine they use in the office, and going to radiology?" Our Dr. told us the machines are the same, but in radiology, there are trained professionals who measure the baby and check for certain things. In her office, we just look at the baby and get a picture, but she doesn't do anything else.
In 3 weeks we go the radiologist for an official ultrasound, and we may be able to find out the gender of the baby.

Awesome!! Amazing feeling to hear the HB, huh?? I had a gazillion ultrasounds with Aly (every week) since I am so high risk... & she is a BRILLAINT, perfectly healthy child! They kept telling me @ the specialist that there were no negative affects, but I don't think they really know for sure. It may not necessarily be bad, but it certainly can't be good. Anyway, yay! Keep us posted for sure... can't wait to hear the sex!
I hope you get to find out! :) Yipppeee!
"If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam."
Wow! That's amazing. :)
I know...I never knew that before. too bad we can't test that theory.
Hurray- so cool! :)
Time for an update and pictures!!
